uranium mining in the slate. The legislature will probably duck the main issue on this one and instead enact a set of guidelines which, if met, flight result in the ban being lifted at some time in the future.
The mining interests seem to be satisfied with this approach for the present, but the bill will come under fire from environmentalists and other mining opponents who believe it amounts to the uranium mining camel getting its nose under the state’s tent.
Another source of major controversy will be the anticrime package of bills which will be introduced at the request of Gov. Charles S. Robb and Attorney General Gerald L. Baliles. The proposed measures are designed to add to the stale's legal arsenal in its war against drug abuse. Many of these proposals have undeniable merit.

Another would allow the introduction in a trial of evidence illegally obtained by police if it could be shown the officer was acting in good faith, and thought he was acting legally when he obtained the evidence. *
