spread of good hunting ethics.

Del. Raymond R. “Andy” Guest reports that he will co-sponsor cased gun legislation with Del. George Beard of Culpeper. We urge Rappahannock residents write letters of support for the bill, whether it proposes a statewide cased gun law or enabling legislation which will allow adoption as a local option. We urge the county supervisors to again consider —and this time adopt — a local ordinance which would prohibit the carrying of a loaded rifle or shotgun in a motor vehicle on a public right-of-way. We urge landowners and individuals who witness acts of illegal hunting to report the incidents and appear in court to give testimony.

And finally, we urge those who carry guns in fields and forests to complete a hunter safety course, for their own safety as well as foi the protection of the rest of us. Hunter safety courses do more than promote good hunting ethics, they may also save the life of a hunter. Of the 64 accidents reported so far this year, 36 of those injured and eight of those killed ha<| not undergone any formal hunters education course. If hunters and non-hunters alike join together in the effort, we can keep Rappahannock a safe place to live during next year’s season.
