Assembly

WVPT, in cooperation with the other four public television stations in Virginia, will produce and broadcast a weekly half-hour series, titled CAPITAL COMMENTARY, designed to keep viewers posted on the major events and happenings of the upcoming session of the Virginia General Assembly.

CAPITAL COMMENTARY will be taped each Friday morning at the State Capital and air Friday evening at 9:00 p.m. on WVPT, beginning January 14th. George Bowles of the Virginia Radio Network and columnist for the Rappahannock News will moderate the programs. Participants will include a journalist-reporter from each of the five station’s coverage areas, as well as guest Legislators who will provide an in-depth review of the major happenings in the session during that week. Taped footage of floor action will be interspersed to highlight and add clarity to those major events.

Governor Charles Robb will be the special guest on the premiere program scheduled for January 14 at 9:00 p.m. At this time the governor will respond to questions regarding the 1983 session as well as reactions to his State of the Commonwealth Address presented on January 12.
