Dangerous To Your Feet!
In severe cold weather we see a rash of foot problems. In our office we see'’a number of people with symptoms of frostbite. Most people don’t realize that the damage to the foot can happen rather quickly, especially if your circulation is already compromised to begin with. One elderly woman developed symptoms of frost bite because she was a native of Florida and the lowered temperatures in a house heated only with a woodstove in the back rooms proved to be too cold for her.,People who smoke, especially women, are prone to a spasm of the vessels that enter the toes in reaction to the cold and this can worsen the problems, Also diabetic patients who have some loss of feeling in their feet have been burned by keeping their feet too close to a hot wood stove.
