Luther Settle, 80, of Castleton died Monday, January 10, 1983, at his residence.
A native of Rappahannock County, he was the son of the late Frank and Louemma Tharpe Settle. He was a farmer. His wife was the former Lottie Pearl Wharton, who died in 1978. ^ Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Walter Southard of Culpeper, Mrs. Lois Smith of Madison, Mrs. Frances Settle, Mrs. Den allory and Mrs. Virginia Compton, all of Castleton, two sons, James H. Settle and Hushel Settle, both of Castleton; 19 grandchildren ^and one sister. Miss Florence Settle of Castleton. Funeral services will be held^n Thursday, January 13, at 2 p.m. at Geest- Johnson Funeral Home in Culpeper by the Rev. Joseph S. Stirman Jr. Burial will be in a family cemetery near the residence.
