LeliaMorse Former Rappahannock Teacher Mrs. Lelia Ludwig Morse, 85, of Portsmouth, died Saturday, February 5, 1983, in the Portsmouth General Hospital. Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday at the Grace United Methodist Church in Middletown by the Rev. Albert D. Sikkelee, Rev. Thomas Bunkow and Rev. Carl Haley. Burial was in he Mount Carmel Cemetery, Middletown. Mrs. Morse was born at Middletown on September 11, 1897, daughter of the late Edward Harris and Willey Ludwig. A school teacher with 42 years of service, having taught at Middletown and Rappahannock County, she retired from the Portsmouth Public Schools. She was the wife of the late Christopher Stokes Morse. Surviving are a son, the Rev. Dr. Christopher L. Morse of New York; eight step-grandchildren and 17 step-great grandchildren.
Aubrey Carder Slate Corrections Officer Aubrey Berry Carder, 77, of Culpeper died Saturday, February 5, 1983, in Culpeper Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday at the Clore Funeral Home Chapel in Culpeper by the Rev. Harold Parker. Burial was in the Hillcrest Memory Gardens at Jeffersonton. A native of Fauquier County, he was the son of the late David Preston and Frenchie Hunt Carder. Mr. Carder was a retired state corrections officer. He was a member of the Mt. Holly Baptist Church and a member of the Phoenix Lodge No. 591.O.O.F. Mr. Carder is survived by his wife, Helen Mariarty Carder of Culpeper; one sister, Mrs. Patty McCormick of Wheaton, Md. and two brothers, Kelly Carder of Fredericksburg and Sidney Carder of Hattiesburg, Miss.
