That Knee Pain Could Be

From the Foot!

Many people begin to jog to get themselves in shape and reduce the risk of heart attack. They are forced at times to stop because of knee pain. Approximately 2000 lbs. of force are applied to the foot with each step. Sometimes the foot may be slightly out of alignment with the ground. This mal-alignment may not show up until the person starts to jog. The stress that begins in the foot is transferred up the leg into the knee and continues up into the hip. Many times this problem may be treated with an insert in the shoe to help realign the foot to the ground. This can reduce or eliminate the pain in the knee. There are other problems that might not show up when walking but make themselves evident with the extra stress of jogging. Remember, staying active keeps you healthy.
