Roy Reeve
Retired Postmaster
JRo>r, L>rnn Reeve, age 67, of Sperryville died Wednesday, February 2, 1983, at his residence.
A native of Tennessee, he was the son of Roy Mann Reeve of Mt. Dora, Fla. and the late Estes Bowman Reeve. He was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church in Arlington.
From 1940 to 1952, Mr. Reeve served in the U.S Air Force and was discharged as a Lt. Colonel. He was a heavy bombardement pilot in the European Theatre and Korean War. He was a group operation officer in the 15th Air Force and then assigned to the 829 Squadron Commander. He received the Silver Star, the Distinguished Flying Cross with four clusters, the Croix deGuerre with Palms, the Air Medal and nine battle stars.
From 1952 to 1956, Mr. Reeve operated his farm at Sperryville and served as Postmaster at Sperryville from 1956 to 1974. 3
In addition to his father, survivors include his wife, Mrs. Miriam Barnett Reeve of Sperryville; three daughters, Mrs. Patricia Reeve Brown of Hanover, Pa., Mrs. Lillian Reeve Butler of Manassas and Mrs Dorothy Reeve Irvine of Madison; one son, Roy Barnett Reeve of State College, Pa. and ten grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted on Monday at Clore Funeral Home Chapel in Culpeper by the Rev. Jerry Campbell. Burial was in Culpeper National
Manuel Walker
World War I Veteran
Manuel Hardy Walker, 87, of Viewtown, died Wednesday, February 2, 1983, at Veterans Administration Center in Martinsburg, W. Va.
He was born on July 2, 1895, in Page County, the son of the late James Woodward Walker and Viola Alger. He was a World War I veteran and his occupation was construction. He was married to Rosie Lee Deavers, who predeceased him.
Survivors include three sons, Landon H. Walker of Viewtown, Manuel F. Walker of Glen Bumie, Md. and Edward J. Walker of Derwood, Md.; three daughters, Delvinia M. Calahan of Dumfries, Virginia L. Hitt of Culpeper and Vallie M. Shugars of Mount Airy, Md.; 26 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren.
Also surviving are three brothers, Adam Walker, John Walker and Samuel Walker, all of Maryland and two sisters, Minnie Sours of Florida and Eddie Devers of Maryland.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday at the Bradley Funeral Home in Luray by the Rev. James Powers. Burial was in Mountain View Cemetery Rileyville.
