The traditional pageant will again be offered on the courthouse steps as part of the Independence Day celebration in Washington which this year will include a costumed ball at Jessamine Hill, Mrs. Davis told the supervisors.
A town of Washington Day is planned for August, RAAC’s pageant for September, some type of activity at Wasington House in November and RAAC’s New Year’s Eve party in December, she said.
“I think you’ve done a great job in two weeks and I think we should support them,” Supervisor Hubert Gilkey responded, proposing that the board contribute the $150 requested by Mrs. Davis for postage and supplies and winning unanimous endorsement from his fellow supervisors.
