Lane Asks For
Suggestions On
School Board
“I have a lot of feelers out,” replied Supervisor Nelson Lane when asked by bis fellow board members last week if he had a nomination to the Rappahannock School Board from Stonewall-Hawthome District.
It was Lane’s election in November that created the vacancy. The former School Board member defeated Sean Kilpatrick in the contest for the Stonewall-Hawthome seat after incumbent H.B. Wood chose not to seek re-election.
Last Wednesday, Lane asked that the appointment of a representative from his district be postponed until February. He requested residents of the district to contact him by telephone or in person to give their suggestions on the nomination.
Until 1980, the Rappahannock County School Board was appointed by a three-member Board of Electoral Trustees who had been in turn appointed by the circuit court judge. Rappahannock citizens,
