This is the first budget Robb’s own adminisfraton has shaped. Although he took office in January 1982, he inherited a budget molded by his predecessor, John N. Dalton.
The budget is expected to be between $15 and il5.5 billion for the two years, up from about $13.9 billion for 1982-84.
One of the key proposals
will & Robb’s plan for increasing pay for teachers. Robb proposed a 10-percent increase for teachers last year, and legislators expect him to propose at least that much for each of the two years in the upcoming biennium.
Whether that will be enough to satisfy the majority of the assembly, teachers, or local governments remains to be seen.
