Culpeper held steady at 4.8 percent. Madison met the district average with 5.5 percent.
VEC officials did not see the slight slump as indicative of any significant trend in the area’s employment picture. Statewide unemployment lowered from 5.6 percent to 5.4 during the Anonth. A slight decrease in the national rate was recorded at the same time. The November unemployment rate ;was 8.1 percent down from 8.4 percent in October.
Meanwhile, the VEC office reports the consumer price index up .2 percent during November and up 3.2 percent during the year.
