Barring the possible emergence of some hitherto unmentioned candidate, it is becoming increasingly likely that State Secretary of Human Resources Joseph Fisher will capture the Democratic nomination for the U.S. Senate this year.
For many months the former 10th District Congressman has been “testing the waters" as he examined the political realities involved in seeking his party’8 nod to oppose incumbent Republican John Warner in next November's balloting.
Fisher says he has received advice that is both “encouraging and cautionary,” but as time passes, his views are becoming “more positive” toward a bid for the nomination. That nomination will be bestowed when the party holds its state convention in Norfolk on May 18-19.
