Rappahannock’s Varsity Panthers faced Clarke County last Tuesday in their fourth straight home game and came away with their fourth straight victory but this time by a slim four point margin.
The Panther machine slid into gear early, capturing a quick 10-5 lead on a bucket from Tom Sisk. But the Panthers didn’t press their advantage and instead allowed the Eagles to fight back and outscore them 10 to 2 in the rest of the quarter.
The real damage didn’t come from the visitors putting the ball through the hoop; it came in the foul category. Rapp’s main offensive weapon, Clarence Pendleton, picked up his third violation, prompting coach Doyle Dawson to give the senior forward a seat on the bench until the start of the second half.
