The county is also charged a fixed “per pull”
fee for transporting and emptying the compactors at the county’s landfill, he said, noting that the county provides the site, equipment
and equipment operator for that final disposal. In addition, a county employee visits each regional site daily to compact trash.
“The supervisors in Warren County told me to go out and find the sites for the compactors. I did,” Stewart said. He negotiated with the owners for purchase or rental of the land, then turned over control of the four sites to the county along with compactors installed and ready to operate. He emphasized, however, that a contract for a trash disposal system here could be tailored to fit Rappahannock’s needs.
