Herbert Carter

Born In Amfesville

Herbert Carter, 66, of Harrisonburg, Pennsylvania died on Sunday, January 15, 1984, at Harrisburg Hospital.

Born on May 18, 1918, at Amissville, he was the son of the late James and Mollie Haney Carter. He was a lifetime member of Bethel Baptist Church in Amissville. Mr. Carter was a retired supervisor from the Penn Central Railroad in Harrisburg.

Survivors include his wife, Lillie Carter of Harrisburg; one daughter, Mrs. Barbara A. Lawson, also of Harrisburg; three grandchildren, William T. Green, III of Merced, California, Misses Shevette D. Green and Joyell C. Lawson, both of Harrisburg and two sisters, Mrs. Mrytle C. Banks and Mrs. Margaret C. Tibbs, both of Washington, D.C.

Also surviving are a niece, Mrs. Sylvia Lollar of Washington, D.C.; a son-in-law, John C. Lawson of Harrisburg and one sister-in-law, Madeline Carter of Amissville.

Services were held on Thursday, January 19 in Harrisburg.
