Unless the supervisors’ home phones are ringing off their hooks at night, it appears the proposed increased budget for fiscal ’84’85 is a shoo-in. During the board of Supervisors’ public hearing on June 4 at the courthouse, minimal criticism of the proposed budget was levied.
The bottom line of the proposed budget: Total dollar requirements to meet expenditures expected for the fiscal year beginning July 1 surpass the $4 million mark, up more than $500,000 from the fiscal year that will end on June 30.
The increase translates in taxpayers terms to a proposed levy on real estate of $0.54 per $100 of assessed value, and a personal property tax of $5.60, also per $100 of assessed value.
One item of special note: The taypayer’s future won’t be brighter. The supervisors discussed reassessment during their meeting, a reappraisal of property due for completion by 1986.
