Basketweaving Workshop Janet Kerig, a local craftsperson who is often featured at Glen Echo and whose works have appeared at the Design Center in Washington, D.C. and the Smithsonian Folklife Festival, is offering a one-day workshop making a melon basket of wild grapevine and reeds. The session will be devoted to completing a basket. The workshop will be presented at the Rappahannock Recreation Center in two sections— on May 26 for adults and on June 23 for children—and will run from 9:30 to 5:30 on each day. The cost will be $40, and pre-registration is required. All participants should bring a lunch. To pre-register, call 987-8670 or 675-3198. This workshop is being presented in co-operation with RAAC.
