Directing Workshop
The Bart Whiteman workshop to be held on June 16 and 17 promises to be an energetic and constructive as was his Acting Workshop held last year.
The price of $15 will include instruction from 10:001:00 and 2:00-5:00 on both days, as well as a follow up session the next Sunday, June 24, from 12:30-5:00. A grant from the Virginia Foundation for the Arts and the Humanities is enabling the Rappahannock Players to offer this high quality instruction at such a reasonable price.
An interest in theatre and curiosity about the directing process are the only prerequisites for the workshops. Unlike acting, which draws on a variety of skills, directing is a process of thought and of imagination; it is art which is created throughe medium of actors, by communicating to them the director's own vision of a scene and helping them to recreate it on the stage.
The format of the workshop will allow for hands-on experience at creating a scene. At the close of the first weekend, projects
