The supervisors were at a standstill—opponents of the project virtually took over the meeting.
The public asked Snead to answer questions ranging from who has controlling stock in the project to what would happen if the project fails. Snead answered each, but the deadlock remained.
The supervisors regained control and asked Commonwealth’s Attorney Peter Luke to comment. “You have 60 days to act after the vote by the IDA,” Luke said.
The supervisors decided that more time, and research, was needed. Supervisor Hubert Gilkey made a motion that a public hearing on the project take place, and that a vote—limited to the bond—occur on the same date. All supervisors concurred.
The supervisors announced that they would advertise the public hearing in the Rappahannock News on June 7 and June 14.
The public hearing will take place in the courthouse on June 21, at 7 p.m.
