E. P. Luke, chairman of the library board of trustees, asked the supervisors to reexamine proposed funding for the library, and get it up to the original request. The supervisors agreed to consider it.
Not related to the proposed budget, the supervisors heard from Lyle Jared, a contractor for Bio-Gro, a firm that applies municipal sludge as fertilizer.
Jared explained the procedure, and asked the supervisors to endorse it, so the process could begin for obtaining permits for its use in Rappahannock County.
Chairman Dick Latham said he had little knowledge of the process, and called for the input of the supervisors.
Nelson Lane said he’d heard good reports from an environmental group in Culpeper regarding blue-plains sludge, a “Class A” sludge recommended by Bio-Gro.
