To the editor
I have enclosed a letter from a hydrogeologist who I hired to investigate the possibilities of contamination f the town well, Rush River and adjoining water supplies. I instructed him to give me the facts regardless of how it might effect my project because my family relatives and friends live in the town and I wanted the trush. I hope this will help relieve the fears and concerns of our citizens and especially the town.

Dear Mr. Snead,
After a careful review of the related hydrogeologic information gained through geologic maps, drillers logs, discussions with other knowledgable geologists, and a field reconnaissance of the local area, I have reached the conclusion that the operation of your proposed facility will not adversely affect the local ground-water quality or the quantity available to other nearby users. Also, I am of the opinion that due to the small flows expected from the water treatment system, the Rush River will not be adversely affected. In the following paragraphs I have explained my reasons for these conclusions in some detail.
One of the major concerns expressed is the effect discharging treated water into the Rush River will have upon the water supply well for the town of Washington. To examine this question four major factors were considered. The first of these was well construction. This well is very recent and thus is constructed to the rigid requirements now in force in Virginia. This includes concrete grouting to at least fifty feet, ten of which must be in solid rock. In this case, solid rock was encountered at seven feet, therefore, the well is grouted through forty-three feet of solid rock. This high
