Each participant was recommended by science teachers Sally Brand and Brion Patterson. The Virginia Tech program focuses on science history and philosophy; design, centered around modelbridge construction; and computer programming. Bailey is the son of Marilyn and Leon Bailey; Dunn is the son of Judy and Charles Stringfellow; Foster is the son of Carol and Guy Foster, Freeman is the son of Denise Freeman. Attending his third summer camp this year at the University of Virginia is eighth-grader Sean Wayland of Viewtown. The two-week U. Va. camp will take place the first week of July and in late August. This year, Wayland selected “Quarks, Quasars and Questions,” an advanced astronomy course, for his field of study. He is the son of Sherlean and Lawrence Wayland.
