Melvin Taylor (Tootie) Wharton, 66, of Culpeper, died Wednesday, May 30, 1984, at Culpeper Memorial Hospital.
A native of Rock Mills, Rappahannock County, he was a retired employee of Bingham and Taylor Foundry. He was the son of the late Henry Albert and Julia Catherine Hitt Wharton. He was a veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ollie Virginia Wharton; a daughter, Mrs. Tommy Hoffman of Culpeper; two grandchildren and four sisters, Mrs. Addie Keyser of Washington, Mrs. Mattie Butler and Mrs. Ollie Dodson, both of Culpeper and Mrs. Minnie Fincham of Orange.
Funeral services were conducted on Monday at Geest-Johnson Funeral Home in Culpeper by the Rev. Edward Hawkins. Burial was in Culpeper National Cemetery.
