The adult and teen counselors for the 4-H Community Co-operative Day Camp in Harmony Hollow have been selected, the daily bus schedule finalized, and the program promises to be a fun-filled follow-up to last year’s at the Northern Virginia 4-H Center. Only one detail still needs to be worked out—more campers.
The camp is designed to operate with 75 campers per week, a figure based on last year’s participation, and interest expressed since that time.
The budget of the camp, including salaries for the teen and adult staff, is dependent heavily on the $35per-camper fee. With the current enrollment figure of 30 campers, the camp stands to lose $1,400 in its first week alone.
Although additional camps have been scheduled for weeks in June and August, it is unlikely they will occur unless there’s a significant increase in camper applications.
