McNear Wins Reserve Champion
Susannah McNear of Washington recently was honored at Graves Mountain Lodge in Syria for showing her Reserve Grand Champion market lamb at the Culpeper-Madison-Rappahannock Farm Show held in Culpeper July 26 through July 90. She received $75 from Rappahannock Livestock supporters.
The lamb weighed 116 pounds and was purchased for a record $4.50per-pound.
Third prize was awarded to Jennifer McNear, $25 from Jon and Liz VanWambeck of Slate Mills.
Other 4-Hen from Rappahannock who participated were Laura and April Adams and Matt Eidson.
Top honors and a $100 prize went to Brian Mattison of Rapidan River Farm, who received Championship honors in the Average Daily Gain contest. His lamb gained 61 pounds over the 99-day period an average .66 pounds per day.
Fourth place went to Jean Anderson of Reva and fifth to Mike Seeberger of Madison.
