The “Blues to Jazz” concert to be held on September 22 in Washington will present a synthesis of musical styles and periods to be performed by local musicians. Rappahannock native John Jackson will give a unique perspective on the roots of blues as he performs not only the works of other well known blues artists but also his own compositions. As these songs have been recognized internationally as integral parts of the blues movement, his performance links Rappahannock intimately with the development of a blues tradition.
