George Washington Clatterbuck, 76, of Harrisonburg, died Tuesday, August 28 at his residence.
Funeral services were conducted on Thursday at Smith Creek Regular Baptist Church in New Market by the Rev. H. Nelson Pettit and Rev. John K. Burke, Jr. Burial was in Beahm’s Chapel Cemetery near Luray.
Mr. Clatterbuck was born March 16, 1908, in Warren County, son of the late James H. and Annie Iona Clatterbuck. He was a retired prison guard for the state of Virginia and was a member of Smith Creek Regular Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Nellie M. Baldwin Clatterbuck; a son, George H. Clatterbuck of Fredericksburg; a daughter, Mildred Bailey of Harrisonburg and a granddaughter.
Additional survivors include a sister, Agnes V. Pullen of Culpeper; two brothers, Guy Clatteruck of Front Royal and Nelson Clatterbuck of Penbrook; three half-brothers, Calvin Clatterbuck, Arthur Clatterbuck and Willie Clatterbuck, all of Front Royal and two half-sisters, Mary Warren of Front Royal and Lillie Baldwin of Culpeper.
Theis Funeral Home in New Market was in charge of the arrangements.
