This action, suspects Rappahannock Game Warden Jim Bankston, was in retaliation for the family notifying him and other law enforcement officials of repeated trespassing, road hunting and spotlighting incidents on their land.
This is a problem with a long and depressing past, Mr. Bankston noted, recalling cases where hunters slugged landowners, shot up mailboxes and intimidated motorists who tried to pass them on the road.
