Creative puppetry workshop
The Child Care and Learning Center is sponsoring a Creative Puppetry workshop conducted by Maggie Rogers and Bethany Craig. The first three classes will be held at the Learning Center on Saturdays, February 8 — February 22, from 11 a.m. to noon. The last five classes will be held at The Gay Street Theatre March 1 — March 29 at the same time with an Easter Puppet Show on the last day. Fashion show planned
A fashion show entitled “Tally Ho!” will be presented on Sunday, April 20, at 2 p.m. at the Rappahannock Elementary School.
The show is sponsored by the Rappahannock Woman’s Club. Members of the club are currently seeking patron ads. Proceeds from the show will benefit the Woman’s Club Scholarship and the Rappahannock County 4-H Day Camp.
Treasure houses trip filling up
The Fauquier County Parks and Recreation Department is sponsoring a trip to the National Gallery of Art for the Treasure Houses of Britain Tour. The date is Saturday, March 8, and the bus will leave Fauquier High School at 2 p.m. and return at 8 p.m.
The cost is $10 for Fauquier residents and $12 for non-county residents and includes the use of headphones for the tour. Registration will close on March 3. Register by mail or in person at Fauquier County Parks and Recreation Department, 62 Culpeper St., Warrenton 22186, between 8:30 and 4:30, Monday through Friday. Call 3491910 for further information.
Community services at Warren Memorial
The Stroke Support Group will meet the fourth Wednesday of each month at 4 p.m. in the Physical Therapy Department of Warren Memorial Hospital. The Support Club is for persons who have had a stroke and/or members of their families. This group is self-directed and its members have been sharing experiences and methods of coping with situations related to strokes. There is no charge for attending this group meeting.
Free blood pressure screening is done every Wednesday from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. in the South Lobby.
EMS classes to be held
The Culpeper County Volunteer Rescue Squad and the Rappahannock Rapidan EMS Council Office will sponsor an Emergency Medical Technician course beginning February 6 at 7 p.m.
Classes will meet every Monday and Thursday from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. in the classroom at Culpeper Memorial Hospital, and are open to the public. The instructor will be Skip Wolfford. There will be a fee for text books and materials needed for the class.
Registration and further information may be obtained by calling the EMS office at 825-6849 between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Registration will also be taken for an EVOC course beginning February 14 at 7 p.m. at the Culpeper Fire/Rescue building. The remaining portion of the course will be given Saturday or Sunday (your choice), February 15 or 16. Instructor will be J. Russell Teel of the Marshall Rescue Squad.
