Words cannot express the heartfelt sympathy that goes out to the Thornhill family upon the passing of Mr. Cary Thornhill on Sunday. He was a Boston native and if memory serves me right, he was our oldest resident, having lived to the good old age of 94.
Mrs. C. D. Marshall spent the weekend with her son-in-law and daughter Mr. and Mrs. John Wilmont in Linden, and with Mrs. Wilmont visited Mr. Marshall in an Ashland nursing home on Monday.
Mrs. Lucy Jenkins, Charlotte Gaines and Mr. and Mrs. Bemie Jenkins visited Mrs. Jenkins’ brother Jake Sisk in the Mt. Vernon Hospital on Sunday.
Mrs. Tommy Hensley, Susan and Trey of Sonshine Acres visited her parents Mr. and Mrs. Jack Keeling in Farmville last week.
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Hopkins of Remington were luncheon guests Sunday of Mrs. Gladys Schlosser at Fox Hill.
Mr. and Mrs. Randal Starrett of Great Falls spent the weekend at Conyers House with Mr. and Mrs. Norman Cartwright-Brown. Mr. Starrett is a renowned mountain climber, having climbed the mountain on the southern tip of Russia, along the Afghanistan-Chinese border, which 52 previous climbers had attempted but never succeeded. Over the weekend, he literally jogged to the top of Old Rag Mountain, as practice. He is on the Russian team and will be coming back to the United States in April to climb Mt. McKinley.
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Benning had as their guest last Thursday Mrs. Benning’s sister Mary of Rixeyville.
Dale McCloud of Culpeper was a guest during the weekend of his mother, Mrs. Leola McCloud.
Rev. Gary Johnson of Powellton, W. Va., conducted a weekend revival at Nethers Mill Lighthouse of which Rev. Charles Clinedinst is pastor.
Mrs. Dorothy Miller and son have moved from our area into an apartment in Sperryville.
Haywood Fincham has returned to the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Jenkins, after two weeks in Culpeper Memorial Hospital where he had pacemaker surgery.
Rev. Charles Clinedinst visited Mr. and Mrs. Harry Southerly and family in Broadway and Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Robinson and family in Harrisonburg on Sunday.
