Nine Rappahannock County High School students were awarded certificates for successfully completing a statewide spelling proficiency test sponsored by the Future Business Leaders of America.
1 he winners of the first spelling test were Stephanie Oliver, Wendy Burke, Molly Ubben, Debbie Pullen, Angela Williams, Kim Helmer, Teresa Eppard, Sharon Compton and Sharon Brown.
Stephanie Oliver, Kim Helmer, Molly Ubben and Sharon Compton w ent on to successfully complete the second and third tests, said Mrs. Patricia Clarke, who is the FBLA sponsor.
"The main purpose of the FBLA is to give its members a better understanding of the business world and, as the name implies, to produce better business leaders,” explained fellow sponsor. Miss Dietrich Scott.
“Students who have at least three credits of business courses are eligible to join. The members are active with community activities. VNe're going to be working with the Heart Foundation and we worked with the Virginia Leukemia Foundation by having a type-a-thon in December,” Miss Scott said.
