FBLA members had different reasons for joining the organization.
Teresa Eppard felt that “FBLA helps prepare business students for what to expect in the business world after graduation. Our meetings give a general idea of what it is like working in a business setting.”
Sharon Compton will be attending the Katherine Gibbs Business School and feels that “being a member of the FBLA will look good on my references."
Debbie Pullen will be majoring in education upon graduation but considers that being a FBLA member enables her “to meet a lot of people by going to different schools to see how their clubs work.”
Molly Ubben, a senior, is in her third year of typing and believes that her membership will be “a good - opportunity to learn more about the business world.”
“Information was sent to us from the Richmond office about the spelling contest,” Miss Scott said. “We gave interested students a list of 150 words and definitions to study a week before the test. The day of the test Mrs. Clarke and I called out 50 of the words and the students Wrote them down. Twenty-three students took the test and nine of the 23 spelled all of the words correctly.”
