Seniors sweep
oration contest
Wakefield seniors Lara Dose, Jennie Shanks and Sally Miller won first, second, and thud places respectively in the American Legion Oration Contest held in Front Royal on Saturday. Contestants from Warren County High School and Randolph-Macon Academy also competed in this annual event.

Speedwriting, a form of alphabetical shorthand, will be offered Saturdays, from 9 to 12:50 p.m., beginning Jan. 16 at Northern Virginia Community College, Manassas. Sally Bedont will be the instructor.
This notetaking system is easy to learn because it utilizes the letters of the alphabet rather than symbols.
