Divinity 2 cups sugar 1/2 cup white com syrup 1/2 cup boiling water 2 egg whites, beaten 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Cherries or nuts (optional) Combine sugar, com syrup, and water. Cook over moderate heat until it spins a thread when dropped from a spoon. Gradually add to the beaten egg whites, beating all the while. Add vanilla and beat until candy loses its gloss and stands in peaks. Drop by teaspoons onto waxed paper. Top with cherries or nuts, if desired. Yield: 114 pounds.
