Joseph Fray

Joseph Benton Fray of Madison died bee. 13 at Mountain View Nursing Home.

He was bom Dec. 10,1894, son of late John D. Fray and Florence Jackson Fray.

He is survived by his wife Mary Temple Hill Fray, his sons, Joseph Jackson Fray and John Temple Fray, daughters-in-law, Judy Ann Fray and Patricia W. Fray, grandchildren, Dana Temple Fray and Mary Florence Fray, and stepgrandchildren, John William Clarke and Catherine Susan Clarke.

He also leaves his sisters, Florence Jackson Fray and Mary Ellen Fray. Another sister Anne Hester Fray and a brother Dr. John H. Fray predeceased him.

Mr. Fray served as deputy treasurer and treasurer of Madison County for 50 years, and was a past president of the Virginia Treasurers Association, a charter member of Madison County Volunteer Fire Department, Madison Chamber of Commerce and Madison Lions Club.

He was a graduate of Warwick High School and attended Roanoke College.

Mr. Fray was a lifelong active member of Hebron Lutheran Church, Madison, where his funeral was conducted Dec. 15. Interment
