Maybe; little kitten, there is a Santa Claus. Maybe there is someone, somewhere, who would also like to help you by assisting Dan and Shirley Minton who operate the unfunded, no-kill, cageless cat shelter located at Route 5, Box 281, Abingdon, Va. 24210. The Mintons have taken you in, regardless of your condition, and have provided you with food and essential vet care.

Despite severe health problems, Shirley has never wavered in her attempts to give you innocent ones what you deserve - a chance to live. Sometimes, the only thing she can do for you is to hold you gently in her arms, with her tears falling on your soft fur, while you die.

She’s cared for thousands of you during the past six and a half years, including those mutilated from abuse — the one who was paralyzed and seriously ill as a result of having had a roofing nail deliberately inserted into her rectum - the beautiful blind calico who refused to eat and grieved herself to death for her former owners who didn’t even leave a phone number — and the one who had spent an entire day in someone’s yard, starved, dehydrated, a few hours from death, and the finders wouldn’t even give her a drink of water.

To you felines who were lucky enough to get to the shelter, you no longer had to rummage through rot
