“These were two very important road wins,” Coach Leake said. He pointed out that the Bull Run District this year is evenly matched, with “four or five” teams capable of ending up with the district title.
“The team that picks up the wins on the road is going to end up with the district title,” he predicted. “It’s good to get those wins under our belts; if we can get three district road wins before the Christmas break, we’ll use the holiday break to iron out a few wrinkles and then have a big plus going into the January schedule.”
Compared to last year, Coach Leake said the team plans a different strategy. “Last season, there were a couple of important games to focus on. This year, the strategy is that the most important game is the next one. That’s going to be our philosophy, and I hope that it will Carry us through.”
The Panthers hit the road again Friday against Brentsville. Their next home game is Monday, Dec. 21 when Rappahannock faces Page Co. JV action begins at 6 p.m., with the ; varsity following afterward.<■.. -•
