Friends and supporters of Culpeper Memorial Hospital gathered on Pec. 15 for a groundbreaking and wall smashing to mark the beginning of construction on the hospital’s expansion project.
Mrs. Lewis Strauss dealt the first blow to the wall of the hospital’s former administration office which will be renovated and reopened as the Alice H. Strauss Emergency Department. Mrs. Strauss and her late husband Admiral Strauss have been involved in the hospital since it was opened. In honor of her interest and generosity, the new emergency department bears her name.
