Leilani Stanley, training coordinator for the Rappahannock-Rapidan EMS Council, which oversees emergency medical services in the five-county Planning District 9, agreed. “He talks to students so they can understand the material, then he goes back and makes sure that they understand. Everybody enjoys Roger as a teacher, and he really cares about the volunteers.”

She said that in addition to teaching regularly scheduled classes, he has willingly stepped in on little or no notice when other instructors are not available. “He’s great,” Ms. Stanley continued. “He’s given EMS in this planning district a tremendous upgrade.”

“Everybody should have him,” she said, laughing as she added, “I’m just glad that he’s got an understanding wife.”
