Meadows plan presented
Washington's Architectural Review Board saw a preliminary plan by architect Julian Kulski for an addition to The Meadows last Thursday night. The plan, which places the proposed two-story addition to the rear of the existing structure instead of to the side, was presented by Mr. Kulski after the board tabled his original design following a meeting on April 4. According to ARB chairman Carol Miller, Mr. Kulski will return before the board on Thursday, April 20 to present his formal architectural plans. The meeting will be held at the courthouse at 8 p.m.

School census begins
The Rappahannock County public schools are required to take a census of the county's school-age children every three years. According to Superintendent David Gangel, the information compiled from the Census is used in determining the distribution of the one percent state sales tax revenues to local school districts. "It is important to all residents that an accurate census be made so that the County of Rappahannock receives its fair share of these monies," Dr. Gangel said. He added that the name, age and other pertinent information about each child between one and 19 years of age, and handicapped children ages 20 and 21, must be collected for submission to the state. Statistical summaries will be used by the county and the state in planning future educational needs. Dr. Gangel said that the censustaking will begin this weekend, April 22 and 23, and requested that all county residents give their cooperation to the census-takers. Lions’ benefit auction
The Rappahannock County Lions Club will hold its annual benefit auction at the Washington fire hall on Saturday, May 6 at 10a.m. Donations of saleable items are needed (please, no clothing or food).
