iiummees ior Honorary fire chief prince and princess have been named Contestants for Honorary Fire Chief are Missy Bywaters, Sorya Early, Angela Hayes, Tina Houser, Suzette Turner and Cindy Wharton; princess Kimberly Deal Stephanie Stuart, Emily Taylor and Erin Zeamer and prince Phillip Morns, Joshua Lee Settle and Curt Stuart.

The contest will be on-going.

Girls ages 12-17 may call Cathy at 937-5024; girls and boys ages 3-8 may call Lorraine at 937-5526.

Crowning will be on Friday night, June 30, vice July 1 as previously reported.

Amissville Fireman’s Carnival is scheduled Wednesday through Saturday, June 28-July 1. On Wednesday there will be a fireworks display, Thursday is the parade. (Contestants should turn in money and tickets at 10 p.m. Thursday night at the fire house). Friday is the crowning and Saturday prizes will be awarded.

Honorary fire chief contestants are selling tickets for $1 each, with 25 tickets to a book. Cash prizes are $1000 first prize, $500 second prize, $50 third and fourth prizes, $25 fifth and sixth prizes. Department members are also selling tickets.

Prince and Princess contestants are collecting donations. A very special thanks to the following busi-. nesses who have allowed placement of “money jars” for the contest K & D Service Center at Rts. 211 and 229, Hackley’s Store, Rts. 211 and 642, Jenkins Garage, Rt. 211, Ma and Pa Country Mall, Rts. 229 and 640, and Mayhugh’s Store 4, Rt. 211. Others are invited to participate. Visit these establishments and support the Amissville Fire Department by voting for your favorite prince and princess.

Amissville Boy Scouts helped park cars at the Old Dominion Hunt last Saturday.

Amissville ball teams held an organization meeting along with tryouts and drafts on Sunday. Practice begins this week. You may still join by calling Billy Dodson at 9374353, Ronald Dodson 937-4606 or Butch Zindel at 937-5703 or stop by the Ruritan Stuart Field evenings around 6 p.m. or Saturday mornings.
