The Sperryville Volunteer Rescue Squad is agains sponsoring the annual Miss Rappahannock Beauty Pageant. It is scheduled for Saturday. May Id at 7 p.m. at the Rappahannock County High School.
"Many people don't realize," said pageant chairman Sherry Johnson, that this event is the biggest single fund-raiser for the squad each year.” • Mrs. Johnson added that the event will have a special significance this year since the Sperryville Volunteer Rescue Squad is celebrating its 20th anniversary.
She said that during the past years, she has received numerous siggestions and complaints from participants and their families. “1 certainly appreciate these construct ve criticisms and suggestions. \ Without them, we could not learn How to improve this event and make i| one we can all be proud to be involved in and enjoy having our daughters participate in." ‘ In past years, Mrs. Johnson said, judges have been invited who are not Rappahannock County residents and who are not related to or connected with the participants.
