On Saturday, April 8, Democrats from all sections of Rappahannock County filled the courtroom to elect four delegates and two alternates to represent the county at three Conventions to be held by the Democratic Party of Virginia during May and June.

The four delegates who were elected were Ed Bailey and Lee Bird of Washington, Kym Crump of Flint Hill and Carson Johnson of Sperryville. The two alternates were Ethel Bailey of Washington and Margie White of Sperryville. The votes were very' evenly distributed not only among the six delegates and alternates, but also among several other candidates who failed election by only one or two votes.
