Editor's note: The sign posted at the county landfill in Amissville has been changed to refUct the landfill's correct hours. According to County Administrator John McCarthy, the dump's days of operation are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 7:JO a.m. until J:JU p.m. He noted that until persistent violations of the landfill's regulations forced the erection of a fence and gate, the public use area and its dumpsters were open to county residents J!t hours a day. “The Solid Waste Advisory Committee makes recommendations about changes in the landfill's operation," Mr. McCarthy said. “If there are serious concerns, then some thought could be given to further changes in the landfill’s hours of operation.” Residents with questions or concerns may contact Mr. McCarthy at the county administrator's office (675-JSJtZ) or get the name of their district representatives on the advisory committee from his office.
