Vet agent’s last visit

Danuel Smith, the Virginia Department of Veterans Affairs county representative, will make his last visit of the year to Washington on Thursday, Nov. 30. Mr. Smith will be at the Social Services offices on Gay St. from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Anyone with questions, problems or concerns relating to veterans'programs or issues should arrange to meet with Mr. Smith at this time. He may also be contacted at the department's office in ' Front Royal, at 24 E. Stonewall Drive, telephone 703-635-4201.

Flu vaccinations urged

The Rappahannock County Health Department continues to offer vaccinations against the three strains of influenza which are expected to cause problems this winter. Some people are particularly urged to get the shot, including the elderly, children in school or day care with exposure to large groups of >thef children, adults who work in health-care related professions and individuals of any age with chronic heart or lung disease. Jhough flu is often thought of as more of an Inconvenience, for thousands each winter it is a killer — in fact, the fourth leading cause of death in older adults.
