puter lab for the school, and that the most pressing need is for additional software so students have more program options. “That’s good,” she added, “because the software costs a lot less” in the amount of receipts needed for each purchase.
Frank Lambeer, who is coordinating the program at Wakefield, added that anyone in the community is eligible to donate their receipts. “Relatives, friends, anyone and everyone who shops at Giant — any Giant store -may turn in their register tapes.”
He said that Wakefield had not set a particular goal for the program, but had come up with a “ballpark estimate” of what could be accomplished by the time the program ends next March.
He said he hopes that at least half of the Wakefield community, approximately 150 families, will partic' ipate. If each of those families spends about $100 each week at the Giant, and the receipts are turned in, “we will be able to purchase three „. very nice computers by the time it is done.”
Liz Blubaugh, who is coordinating the effort at the elementary school, said that the PTA has set a goal of $200,000 for its register tape drive. With that amount, according to the program’s tables, the school would qualify for two computers, one printer and accompanying software.
