Junk car removal
contract renewed

Nearly 600 abandoned cars have been removed from the county’s yards and fields as a result of the abandoned vehicle program. County Administrator John McCarthy * told the Board of Supervisors at its meeting Nov. 6.
As a result, the county has renewed its contract with Charles Cecil Wood to collect the cars for another two years.
This program is funded by the Division of Motor Vehicles from the $5 collected each time a motor vehicle ia registered in Virginia, Mr. McCarthy explained. The county receives $50 for every car certified as removed. Mr. Wood receives $45, and the county keeps $5 for ad^ ministrative costs. Mr. Wood also gets any salvage valud of the cars, which are crushed and shipped to Southwest
