Mr. Scher explained the motivation for Giant’s participation in a letter to the local program coordinators. “Whether you are a PTA or PTO president, teacher or caring parent and booster for your child’s school, you are obviously aware of the need for improving our children’s access to classroom computers. If your school is like most in the United States, this improvement in access is hard to come by ... .
“We can think of no better way to demonstrate our community concern than to assist the education of our children by giving something back to the communities that have supported Giant Food.”
Residents who wish to help any of the three schools in this effort may drop their Giant Supermarket cash register tapes at the front office at any of the three schools. Safeway Supermarket tapes are also being collected at RCHS. There is a Giant Food supermarket in Warrenton. Safeway has supermarkets in Warrenton, Culpeper, Front Royal and Luray.
Tapes may also be mailed to the three schools at the following addresses: Rappahannock County Elementary School, P.O. Box 274, Sperryville, 22740; Rappahannock County High School, P.O. Box 295, Sperryville; Wakefield School, Huntly, 22640.
