Foster families can learn the child’s situation prior to placement; potential foster families also have the right to refuse placement of particular children, she said.
A typical scenario leading to placement in a foster home begins when the court removes a child from a dangerous or unsuitable situation. When this happens, the social worker needs a well-rounded fostercare client list so a situation suitable to the child and the family can be arranged quickly. “It’s hard work [being a foster parent], but it can be so rewarding!” Mrs. Bowen said.
The brotherhood will reach out to more churches for help as early as next Thursday, Nov. 23, when a breakfast meeting for pastors involved in the Community Thanksgiving Service is tentatively set to take place at Washington Baptist, at 9 a.m.
